Evaluative Research (Spring 2023)

Introduction

Welcome to the realm of CatCloud, a platform designed to facilitate the management of class schedules and grades for University of Arizona students. Our UX research endeavor was driven by the challenge of addressing the low frequency of user engagement. Our primary objective was to gain a comprehensive understanding of the platform's relevance to our users.

In this exploration, we set out to meticulously examine the factors contributing to the low adoption rate and identify the specific areas of the platform that held the most significance for our student community. Using evaluative research as our primary torch, we delve into the world of CatCloud, where our research efforts yielded valuable insights that promise to enhance the user experience.

Research Goals

Primary Goals:

• Identify students’ problems and current solutions (may or may not include CatCloud) related to scheduling and management of grades.
• Learn what a student requires to help manage their college life.
• Identify different student groups with diverse needs and how they can/cannot achieve their career goals.

Evaluative Research Goals:

• Identify reasons for students to use/not use CatCloud currently.
• Learn what features help/don’t help manage a student’s schedule.
• Identify impact of different features of CatCloud on student’s life
• Describe students’ pain points in the current CatCloud

Target Audience

• Students in their first or second year at the university
